Lotus Notes and Domino Applications

Lotus Notes and Domino offer a rich application development environment that leverages messaging, directory services, and replication to provide a secure, reliable, and scalable application platform.  Lotus Domino makes it easy to extend mail and custom applications to the web.  M-Cubed builds enterprise integration solutions with Lotus Domino.  We use Lotus Domino Enterprise Connection Services (DECS) to provide real-time interactive web-based access to information stored in relational databases.  Lotus Enterprise Integrator (LEI) is a batch-oriented server-based data distribution product that enables high performance, scalable exchange of data among many host and relational applications, including Domino, IBM DB2, Oracle, Sybase, Text, ODBC, and EDA/SQL data sources.  Both DECS and LEI use a form-based approach that enables developers and administrators to define data transfer and replication activities without programming.M-Cubed has developed the following types of custom applications with Lotus Notes and Domino:

  • Project Management
  • Corrective Action Tracking System
  • Purchase Requisitions
  • Federal Financial Statement Notes
  • Security Requests

Our certified development staff applies Software Lifecycle techniques to plan and implement cost-effective custom applications.

  • Documenting Business Requirements to clearly define realistic goals for the project, and to understand existing applications that the new application will replace or interface with
  • Planning, Designing, and Documenting the new application
  • Prototyping the proposed application so that customers understand how the final application will operate
  • Finalizing the Application based on user feedback
  • Testing and Quality Assurance to ensure that the application will perform as expected
  • Planning and Developing Documentation and Training so that users and administrators understand how to operate the new application
  • Deploying the application
  • Monitoring and Support of the application

Our lifecycle approach to Mail Migration includes the following steps:

  • Documenting Business Requirements to clearly define realistic goals for the project
  • Documenting the Current Messaging Environment to serve as the foundation for comprehensive planning
  • Developing a Training Plan to ensure that users and administrators understand how to operate the new system
  • Planning, Designing, and Documenting the Lotus Notes and Domino environment so that the new messaging infrastructure will be well-researched and well-conceived
  • Pilot Testing the new environment to validate the proposed design
  • Developing a Coexistence and Migration Strategy to ensure a smooth transition from the old to the new systems
  • Pilot Testing the Coexistence and Migration Strategy to validate that it will work
  • Deploying the Coexistence and Migration Strategy to achieve cut-over from the old to the new system
